Privacy Policy for I2P Android

Privacy policy for the I2P Android application. I2P does not collect, store, or share any personal data.

Last Updated: 2026-04

Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how the I2P Android application (“I2P,” “the app,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information. The Invisible Internet Project is a free, open-source anonymous communications network. Protecting user privacy is the core purpose of our software.

In short: The I2P Android app does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data or personally identifiable information.

Information We Collect

None.

The I2P Android application does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

  • Personal information (name, email, phone number, address)
  • Account credentials or identifiers
  • Contacts, calendar, or photos
  • Location data (GPS, network, or IP-based)
  • Device identifiers (Advertising ID, IMEI, MAC address, Android ID)
  • Usage analytics or telemetry
  • Crash reports or diagnostic data (by the app itself)
  • Any other personally identifiable information

I2P is designed to route traffic anonymously through a decentralized peer-to-peer network. The app operates entirely on your device and communicates only with other I2P network participants as part of normal network operation.

Information Collected by Google Play Services

While the I2P app itself does not collect any data, the Google Play Store and Google Play Services may automatically collect certain information when you install or run the app, including:

  • Crash reports and Application Not Responding (ANR) data — collected by Google Play to help developers identify and fix bugs
  • Basic installation and update information — managed by the Google Play Store

This data is collected by Google, governed by Google’s Privacy Policy , and is not controlled by or shared with the I2P project beyond the aggregated, anonymized crash reports made available to developers through the Google Play Console.

We do not receive any personally identifiable information from Google Play Services. Crash data that may be provided to us through the Google Play Console is aggregated, anonymized, and used solely for improving the stability of the app.

Permissions

The I2P Android app requests only the minimum permissions required to operate as an anonymous network router. Any permissions requested are used exclusively for the app’s core functionality and are never used to collect, store, or transmit user data.

How We Use Information

Because we do not collect any information, there is no user data to use, analyze, or process.

Data Sharing

We do not share any user data with third parties because we do not collect any user data. The I2P app does not:

  • Sell, rent, lease, or trade user data
  • Share data with advertisers, analytics providers, or data brokers
  • Integrate third-party tracking SDKs
  • Use user data for advertising purposes

Data Storage and Retention

The I2P application stores only the operational data required for the network router to function (such as local configuration, router information database, and message queues). This data remains on your device and is never transmitted to I2P project servers or any third party.

You can delete all locally stored I2P data at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing its data through Android’s application settings.

Data Security

I2P is built from the ground up as a privacy and anonymity tool. All traffic routed through the I2P network is end-to-end encrypted using multiple layers of encryption (garlic routing). The app’s source code is fully open-source and available for public audit at:

Children’s Privacy

The I2P Android app is not directed at children under the age of 13. Because the app does not collect any personal information from any user, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
